Looking for a tiny speaker that goes everywhere? The Skullcandy Session 360 delivers big sound, long battery, and rugged waterproof design in a palm-sized package. Here's what you need to know before buying.
Quick answer
If you need a rugged, ultra-portable speaker that clips or sticks anywhere and lasts up to 20 hours, the Session 360 is a smart buy. It's not for audiophiles or those needing room-filling bass, but for on-the-go listening it's hard to beat at this price.
What makes the Session 360 different?
Most tiny speakers sacrifice durability for size. The Session 360 flips that: it's built like a skate wheel with a rugged, waterproof shell and a magnetic mount plus strap. You can clip it to a backpack, stick it on a metal locker, or hang it from a tent loop. That versatility is rare in a speaker under $35.
The trade-off is that the sound is designed for clarity and portability, not deep bass. If you want thumping low-end, you'll need a larger speaker. But for podcasts, pop music, and outdoor background tunes, the Session 360 holds its own.
Battery life and charging
With up to 20 hours of battery, the Session 360 can handle a full day of camping, a long road trip, or multiple work shifts without needing a recharge. That's competitive for its size class. Just note that the battery life depends on volume level and content type — louder playback drains faster, as with any speaker.
The speaker uses a standard USB cable for charging (cable included). There's no fast-charge feature, so plan for a few hours to top it up from empty.
Sound quality expectations
The Session 360 is a single-driver mono speaker. That means it won't produce stereo separation or sub-bass rumble. What it does well is deliver clear mids and highs for spoken word, acoustic music, and pop vocals. It's loud enough for a small room or a campsite, but not for a party hall.
If you're used to larger Bluetooth speakers, you'll notice the lack of low-end punch. But for its size and price, the sound is surprisingly full and distortion-free at moderate volumes.
Decision rules: Should you buy the Session 360?
- You need a speaker that goes anywhere: The magnetic mount and strap let you attach it to metal surfaces, backpacks, or tent poles. If you want a speaker that's not stuck on a table, this is a strong choice.
- You value battery life over bass: 20 hours of playback is excellent for a speaker this size. If you prioritize all-day listening over deep low-end, the Session 360 fits.
- You want waterproof durability on a budget: The rugged, waterproof build means it survives splashes, rain, and drops. At $32.99, you won't worry about damaging an expensive gadget. Check the color options to match your style.
- You need stereo sound or deep bass: This is a mono speaker with limited low-end. If you listen to bass-heavy genres or want room-filling sound, look at larger Skullcandy speakers like the Session 540 or 900. Consider a speaker with a dedicated subwoofer or dual drivers.
