Learn how to pair your Skullcandy Smokin Buds earbuds with any device and reset them when connection issues arise. Step-by-step guide with troubleshooting tips.

Quick answer

To pair your Smokin Buds, take them out of the case and select them from your device's Bluetooth menu. To reset, hold the touch controls on both earbuds for 10 seconds until the LEDs flash red and blue.

When you need to pair or reset

Pairing is straightforward when both earbuds are charged and out of the case. A reset becomes necessary if one earbud stops playing, the buds won't connect to each other, or your device keeps losing the Bluetooth signal.

The Smokin Buds use touch controls for both pairing and resetting, so knowing exactly which taps and holds to use saves you from repeated failed attempts.

How to pair and reset your Smokin Buds

  1. Initial pairing: Remove both earbuds from the charging case. They will automatically power on and enter pairing mode, indicated by alternating red and blue LED flashes. On your phone or other device, open Bluetooth settings and select 'Smokin Buds' from the list. If the earbuds don't appear, place them back in the case, close the lid, wait 5 seconds, and try again.
  2. Reconnecting to a previously paired device: Take the earbuds out of the case. They should automatically reconnect to the last paired device. If they don't, go to your device's Bluetooth menu, tap 'Smokin Buds', and select 'Connect' or 'Pair'. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device before removing the earbuds from the case.
  3. Resetting the earbuds: Place both earbuds in the charging case and close the lid. After 5 seconds, open the lid and remove both earbuds. While holding them close together, press and hold the touch control on each earbud for 10 seconds. The LEDs will flash red and blue, then turn off. Release the touch controls. A full reset clears the pairing list, so you will need to re-pair with your device afterward.
  4. Re-pairing after a reset: After the reset, the earbuds will automatically enter pairing mode. Go to your device's Bluetooth settings and select 'Smokin Buds' again. Accept the pairing request if prompted. If pairing fails, forget the device from your Bluetooth list and repeat the reset steps before trying again.
